Short-Term Technical Assistance for PLN’s De-dieselization Program MENTARI

The Short-Term Technical Assistance for PLN’s De-dieselization Program MENTARI (Menuju Transisi Energi Rendah Karbon Indonesia) project, carried out in 2023 with Castlerock Asia as the client, aimed to support PLN’s efforts to transition from diesel-based power generation to cleaner, renewable energy sources. This initiative was part of a broader national strategy to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and accelerate the adoption of sustainable energy solutions, particularly in remote and off-grid areas where diesel generators are commonly used.

PT Geni Buana Nusantara's members were tasked with conducting scoping studies and resource assessments for potential wind and biomass energy projects as part of the de-dieselization effort. These studies helped identify viable locations and quantify the available renewable energy resources. In addition, the company developed pre-feasibility studies that assessed the technical and economic viability of transitioning from diesel to renewable energy at specific plant sites. The outcomes of these studies provided critical insights and recommendations for implementing the energy transition, supporting PLN’s commitment to a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
