The project Investigation of The Refractory Dry Out (RDO) in Furnace Boiler CFPP PLTU Tarahan was undertaken in 2021 at the PLTU Tarahan location in Lampung, with Jasindo as the client. This project focused on addressing technical issues related to the mechanical engineering aspects of the furnace boiler system. One of the critical tasks involved investigating the risks and causes of RDO explosions within the furnace boiler, which could significantly impact the operational safety and efficiency of the power plant.
A key member from PT Geni Buana Nusantara was responsible for conducting an analysis of the RDO explosion risk, utilizing Large Eddy Simulation (LES) with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) technology. This analysis aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the explosion dynamics, identify potential hazards, and suggest preventive measures. Based on the simulation results, the team formulated conclusions and provided recommendations for future steps to enhance safety protocols and ensure the proper functioning of the furnace boiler system.
