Biomass Pellet Potential from Agricultural Residue (Corn, Rice Straw, and Bamboo)

Date

May 2023

Location

Jakarta

Project type

Technical Study

In 2023, Geni collaborated with PT Mitrabara Adiperdana to explore the potential of utilizing agricultural waste for biomass pellet production. The project, focused on examining various types of residues, including corn stalks, rice straw, and bamboo. These materials, often discarded or underutilized, present an opportunity to be converted into a sustainable energy source, contributing to the growing demand for renewable energy.

By investigating the technical and economic feasibility of this approach, the project aimed to assess the viability of converting agricultural byproducts into biomass pellets. Such a process could offer a dual benefit: reducing agricultural waste and providing an alternative, eco-friendly fuel source for industries and households. This initiative aligns with broader efforts to enhance energy security and promote environmentally sustainable practices in Indonesia.
